Course overview

It’s an unfortunate fact that most attempts to train line managers as coaches don’t work. Our research and that of others reveals a number of reasons why, and our approach to coaching by line managers is designed to overcome the common barriers. In particular, we aim to ensure that newly learned coaching behaviours are supported by the manager’s team and other stakeholders.

Rather than just teach the basic skills of coaching, we also explore how to find the time for coaching, how to ensure that coaching happens between team members, how to integrate coaching into developmental and performance conversations and how to continue to grow in coaching confidence and competence. This systemic, evidence-based approach is unique in the world of coach training.

The programme is supported by an extensive manual, e-books and by access to our on-line Coaching and Mentoring Resource.
