The extensive and growing PERILL database of team dynamics is primarily used to give teams an insight into the issues they need to pay attention to, in order to improve performance and collaboration.

PERILL Diagnostics for Teams is now available for HR Professional, Facilitators, Team Leaders & Team Coaches to enhance their teams performance and to create an impactful coaching culture. The basic package is free with enhanced packages for Team Coaches to help their client teams and build their Team Coaching business.

However, the PERILL model can also be used to address immediate, day-to-day issues in several ways.

Planning with PERILL

Ahead of any major project or initiative, the team can analyse its plans in the light of the six factors. Key questions include:

  • What do we need to pay particular attention to with regard to these stakeholders?
  • What positive and negative patterns have occurred with previous similar projects?
  • What are our potential strengths and weaknesses in delivering this project?
  • What learning do we want to take from this project?

Mid-project review with PERILL

At this stage, the team assesses what is going well and less well, and why. Key questions include:

  • What minor hiccups could have led to bigger problems?
  • What is going very well and how will we ensure that continues?
  • What real or potential changes can we foresee in each of the six factors and how will we react to these?
  • Are there any emergent patterns we should monitor?

Post-project review with PERILL

The post-project review can take place with or without stakeholders’ participation. The main question here is “What can we learn?”. Having data from the planning and mid-project review sessions greatly enriches this dialogue and anchors change in what really happened. Capturing multiple post-project reviews provides an immensely valuable resource for future iterations of project planning

In short, unlike almost every other team diagnostic, PERILL can be built into a team’s continuous improvement routines. Over the next year, we aim to build a library of cases of day-to-day use of PERILL and make this openly available. We will welcome your contributions to this resource!
